Atomos Ninja V records 4K 10-bit from new Nikon mirrorless cameras  

The new Nikon Z6 and Z7 mirrorless cameras output a full-frame 10-bit 4K N-Log signal, which the new Atomos Ninja V 4K HDR monitor/recorder can record and display in HDR.

The Nikon Z6 and Z7 have sensors that output 4K images over HDMI, ready for conversion to HDR by Atomos. The Atomos Ninja V records the output to production-ready 10-bit Apple ProRes or Avid DNx formats. Continue reading

Franz Kraus to advisory role at ARRI, Michael Neuhaeuser takes tech lead

The ARRI Group has named Dr. Michael Neuhaeuser as the new executive board member responsible for technology. Sony updates Venice to V2 firmware, will add HFR support

At CineGear, Sony introduced new updates and developments for its Venice CineAlta camera system including Version 2 firmware, which will now be available in early July.

Red simplifies camera lineup with one DSMC2 brain

Red Digital Cinema modified its camera lineup to include one DSMC2 camera Brain with three sensor options — Monstro 8K VV, Helium 8K S35 and Gemini 5K S35. The single DSMC2 camera Brain includes high-end frame rates and data rates regardless of the sensor chosen.
